Peers are what you are... so searching for peers leads you to people. Interests are what you do... so searching for interests can take you to resources, or people who share those interests.

Examples of peer groups which feature prominantly in blogosphere are: teens, gays, mothers, singletons. Examples of interests prominant online are: politics, music, religion, photography.
